'Come and See Istanbul' Photography and Video Project Preparations Continue

The photography and video project "Come and See İstanbul", which will be carried out by the Radio, Television and Cinema Department of Istanbul Gelişim University (IGU) Fine Arts Faculty (FAF), will meet with the audience at the beginning of the spring semester.

GIRLS' EDUCATION WILL BE SUPPORTED WITH THE COME AND SEE ISTANBUL PROJECT

The project "Come And See Istanbul" is a social responsibility project that continues its preparations under the direction of Asst. Prof. Dr. Radife Akyıldız Ongar. Within the scope of the project, Istanbul-themed photographs taken by the third and fourth grade students of the Radio, Television and Cinema department will be exhibited and a film screening will be organized for their short films and video works. The photographs that are entitled to be exhibited will be shared with a foundation working in this field, in order to use the income generated by selling them for the education expenses of girls. At the beginning of the spring semester, work continues for the exhibition and film screening to be held on online platforms in accordance with the pandemic conditions.

The aim of the project is to reveal the unseen places of Istanbul, to unite the interest and work of students in a project focus, and to create an important sharing area by contributing to the education of girls.

In her statement on the emergence process and purpose of the project, Asst. Prof. Dr. Radife Akyıldız Ongar mentions that a common sharing area will be created with this project, and that love will be shared with the eyes in this period when everything is carried out online and remotely:

“The language of images, the language of photography is universal. In this era of computer communication, I think there is a way to express our dreams. With the Come And See Istanbul project, it will be possible to see the places of Istanbul that we want to go but cannot see, and to share the love with our eyes.

This work will be realized with the contribution of all our students who are studying, starting or hoping to work in the ever-expanding world of television and video. Shaped as a social responsibility project, the “Come and See Istanbul” project set out to contribute to the education of girls in particular. I would like to thank all of our students and teachers who contributed, and present my respects.”

Although the project started with the students of the Department of Radio, Television and Cinema, the project is open to all Istanbul Gelişim University students who are interested in this field and want to participate in the project.

Just like in the "Istanbul in Us" project, another project of the Faculty of Fine Arts that puts Istanbul at its centre, the "Come and See Istanbul" project will become colorful and diversified as it brings together students from different disciplines in the same project.
