 Asst. Prof. Dr. Emre Doğan's TÜBİTAK Project is at the Panel Stage!


Conducted by Istanbul Gelişim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts (FAF), Head of Radio, Television and Cinema Department, Asst. Prof. Dr. Emre Doğan TÜBİTAK 3501 project titled "A Field Research on the Transformation of the Film Sector into an Industry in Turkey: The Function of the Short Film as a Genre, Sectoral Problems and Solutions" was entitled to present the project at the panel stage.


Conducted by Head of the Department of Radio, Television and Cinema Asst. Prof. Dr. Emre Doğan, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Rabiya Saltik and Res. Asst. Okan Kırbacı in the research team, the TÜBİTAK 3501 project titled “A Field Research on the Transformation of the Film Sector into an Industry in Turkey: The Function of the Short Film as a Genre, Sectoral Problems and Solutions” was entitled to make a presentation at the panel stage.

TÜBİTAK Project is in the Panel Stage

In the project, to complete the participation of the short film genre in the sector, the existing and/or potential commercial, artistic, and legal problems of the short film in Turkey will be investigated before festivals, production companies, non-governmental organizations, television channels, online viewing platforms and intellectual property lawyers, and the short film It is aimed to produce solutions to transform the sector into a stable industry with its participation. The outcomes of the research will be expressed through a joint book consisting of scientific articles and a documentary film.

The fact study will focus on the problems related to the completion of the sectoral development of the short film genre, which has become widespread in our country, and general terms will focus on the obstacles related to the film industry gaining an industrial identity - through the short film genre - reveals the critical importance of the project. The fact that there is no study in this field other than the opinions expressed in the sources, the majority of which are created by the project manager, reveals the unique value of the project.

“What obstacles are there for short films, which have increased in quantity in recent years in Turkey, to be accepted as a part of the industry and how can short films be incorporated into the framework of the film industry?” The hypothesis of the project, which acts on the research question, is "with the integration of the short film genre into the film industry, the film industry in our country will begin to show industry characteristics." The project aims to produce solutions for the film industry to take on an industrial identity by focusing on the existing and/or potential commercial, artistic, and legal problems of short films in Turkey.
