Assoc. Prof. Emre Doğan’s “Right to Imperfection” Screened in Ankara
“Right to Imperfection” (Kusur Hakkı), a work developed within the conceptual framework established by Assoc. Prof. Emre Doğan, Head of the Department of Radio, Television and Cinema at Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts (FFA), was presented to audiences as part of the “Shorts from a-part” film screening in Ankara. The work was screened alongside six other short productions at the event held at UNITE on September 26, 2026.
Organized by a-part, the event brought together various works of fiction, documentary, experimental film, and video art. Assoc. Prof. Doğan’s nine-minute video work “Right to Imperfection” was among the productions featured in the screening program.
Exploring the relationship between imperfection and illusion
Inspired by Jean Baudrillard’s ideas on art and illusion, “Right to Imperfection” questions the pursuit of aesthetic perfection and examines the role of imperfection in artistic expression. The collective project brings together different genres of photography, with no digital alterations made to the images after they were captured. The visual structure, created by printing and subsequently scanning the photographs, explores the possibilities of analog thinking within digital production environments.
Seven productions featured in the screening program
In addition to “Right to Imperfection,” the Ankara screening featured six other works: “Açık,” “Bazı Meşhur Suçlar,” “Godard Etkisi,” “Harika Bir Şey,” “Peki Ben Neden Hâlâ Buradayım,” and “Yasemin Adında Bir Salon Bitkisi.” Bringing together different cinematic approaches, the program provided another opportunity for “Right to Imperfection,” which explores the relationship between photography and moving images, to be presented in a new screening context.
We congratulate Assoc. Prof. Emre Doğan and all the artists who contributed to the project, and wish them continued success in their artistic endeavors.
