Searching for Nostalgia in Domestic TV Series: Reconstruction of the Past in Audience Comments (Nostaljiyi Yerli Dizilerde Aramak: İzleyici Yorumlarında Geçmişin Yeniden İnşası)

Dr. Öğr. Üyesi Rabiya Saltik, in her study titled "Searching for Nostalgia in Domestic Series: Reconstruction of the Past in Audience Comments", deals with the audience's interpretations of the television series "Bizimkiler", which was very popular in the nineties and has now turned into a nostalgia. She conducted a nostalgia review by focusing on the audience's comments on the series watched on youtube. She aimed to reveal what today's nostalgics yearn for, In the study, qualitative content analysis and word cloud analysis were carried out, and the audience comments in the first episode of the first season of the TV series Bizimkiler on the TRT Nostalji Youtube channel were examined. She reached a total of 490 data through the maxqda program and separated the data containing nostalgia by coding. In this context, she determined that 144 comments contain nostalgic elements. She coded the obtained data taking into account the phenomenon of nostalgia and categorized the code system she created. Accordingly, the category of "remembering" in which the audience's own past life and memories are revived through the series, the category of "past and present" in which the positive aspects of the past are remembered and compared with the present, the category of "longing for the past" in which the search and longing for past times come to the fore, and finally the audience's own he has reached the category of "return to childhood", where he remembers his past and childhood. As a result of the research, it has been revealed that nostalgics create a memory area where they can quench their longing by searching for traces of the past through Youtube as a new media platform.

We congratulate asst. Prof. Dr. Rabiya Saltik for her presentation and wish her continued success.
