Interior Architecture








 “The Concept of Privacy in Interior Architecture”


Organized by Istanbul Gelişim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts (GSF) Interior Architecture Departments, "Interior Architecture Talks #16" took place online with the intense participation of students.


The sixteenth of the Interior Architecture Talks, jointly organized by Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU) Faculty of Fine Arts (GSF) Interior Architecture Department & Interior Architecture and Environmental Design Departments (TR and ING), is titled “Privacy Concept in Interior Design” was held in English on the Google Meet Platform between 14.30 and 15.30 on Monday, April 17, 2023, with the participation of Master Architect Ahmet Yıldırım as a speaker.

The event started with İbrahim Erol introducing Master Architect Ahmet Yıldırım. Then, Ahmet Yıldırım introduced himself and talked about his experiences as well as his education process. Ahmet Yıldırım presented his thesis titled “Intercultural Comparative Evaluation of the Concept of Privacy in Architecture”, which he completed in 2018 at Fatih Sultan Mehmet University, Department of Architecture.

“Survey Results Show Differences According to the Concept of Intercultural Privacy”

Ahmet Yıldırım's presentation started with the introduction and continued with the literature review section in which the definitions of culture and the relationship between culture and environment were examined. In the next section, the meaning and definitions of the use of distance are exemplified through its effect on people's behavior. In the last part, the survey study applied to check whether the concept of privacy affects the preferences of users from four different nationalities in the interior, such as the cafeteria, was mentioned. Pointing out that a multinational survey was conducted to check whether the concept of privacy affects the preferences of users from four different nationalities in the interior, such as the cafeteria, Yıldırım stated that the results of the survey revealed that the choices of the participants differ according to the concept of intercultural privacy.
