 “Container Living Space Design Project Jury” Held Online!


The "Container Living Space Design Project Jury" organized by Istanbul Gelişim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts (FAF) Interior Architecture, Interior Architecture and Environmental Design (TR-ING) Departments took place online on Google Meet on March 31.


Organized jointly by Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU) Faculty of Fine Arts (GSF) Department of Interior Architecture & Departments of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design (TR and ING), the event was titled "Container Living Space Design Project Jury" with the participation of Interior Architecture Department lecturers and students. It was held online on the Google Meet platform between 13:00-15:30 on Friday, March 31, 2023.
The jury started with the opening speech of Lecturer Selcen Nurcan Keskin Urmak, lecturer of the Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design. Then, Halil Yektaş from Ender Prefabrik, who was included in the jury as the sector representative, introduced himself. After the opening, students started to present their projects.

Basic Information About the Considerations in Container Design is Given             

The “Container Living Space Design Project Jury” took place as the third step in the series of events. After completing the design process, which they conducted through online meetings for a week, the student groups started to present their designs in turn. Ecem Derya and Ömer Tohumoğlu from lecturer Minel Kurtuluş's group, Beyza Palut from lecturer Büşra Babacan's group, Sena Ertuğrul from lecturer Enver Tatlısu's group, Melek Çelik from lecturer İbrahim Erol's group, Erman Yerlikaya from asst. Prof. Dr. Adem Özer's group, Yağmursu from lecturer Serenay İnceoğlu's group Akdemir, Sümeyye Gürsoy from lecturer Selcan Nurcan Keskin Urmak's group, made the project presentations of the groups of which they are members.

Design Phase Completed

An interview was held on March 17, within the scope of the "Living Space Design in Container" project, which was organized to bring a design proposal to the container cities to be established for earthquake victims whose houses were damaged in the February 6 Kahramanmaraş earthquakes. After the interview, the student groups and the mentor teachers who will take care of each group were determined, and after the design workshop, the groups moved on to the design process together with their mentor teachers. The designs were completed at the Google Meet meetings held by the groups themselves for a week. Criticism was given to the projects designed by the jury, which is the last stage of the design process. The projects will be exhibited in the exhibition held in the coming weeks after they are finalized according to the criteria. In addition, the students in the teams will have the opportunity to experience the container production process with the planned technical trip upon the invitation of a container company.

The Jury was Held with the Intensive Participation of the Students

The jury, in which the Head of Interior Architecture Department asst. Prof. Dr. Parvin Heidari, Deputy Head of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design Department Lecturer Selcen Nurcan Keskin, Urmak, Deputy Head of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design (Eng.) Department Lecturer İbrahim Erol, Interior Architecture Department lecturers asst. Prof. Dr. Adem Özer, Lecturer Serenay İnceoğlu, Lecturer Enver Tatlısu,  Lecturer Büşra Babacan, Res. Asst. Tuğçe Öztürk, Res. Asst. Eliz Mutlu, Res. Asst. Mustafa Dallı and approximately 40 students participated and ended at 15.30. We would like to thank all the participants and valuable lecturers for their participation in the project.
