Istanbul Gelişim University, Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Interior Architecture, added another sectoral collaboration to its efforts to prepare its students for professional life after graduation and expand their professional networks. At the Department Board Meeting, held online on January 12, 2026, Beyhan Daşburun, a member of the IMO Youth Commission, was hosted as an external stakeholder.
Institutional Ties Strengthened with "External Stakeholder Protocol"
At the meeting, chaired by the Head of the Department of Interior Architecture, Asst. Prof. Kadir Öz, the acquaintance and collaboration processes between the academic staff and Beyhan Daşburun were discussed. As a result of the meeting, it was decided to sign an "External Partnership Protocol" to formalize and make permanent the ties between the university and the Chamber of Interior Architects.
A Spring Semester Full of Events
The meeting, which also addressed planning for the 2025-2026 Spring Semester, decided to create a comprehensive event calendar for students. The planned events include:
Introducing the activities of the Chamber of Interior Architects to students,
Sharing digital portals where students can follow their professional development,
Conducting informational activities about the Chamber membership processes and the importance of professional representation.
Support for Professional Organization from Academic Staff
The meeting also decided to increase communication with the representatives of the Chamber of Interior Architects within IGU and to clarify the contributions that the academic staff will provide to students in the Chamber membership processes. Asst. Prof. Kadir Öz emphasized that students' acquaintance with the professional chamber while still in the education phase plays a critical role in their process of acquiring a professional identity.
The meeting was attended by the Head of Department, . In addition to Asst. Prof. Kadir Öz, Asst. Prof. Minel Kurtuluş, Asst. Prof.Parvin Heidari, Asst. Prof. Naz Katırcıoğlu, and Res. Asst. Eliz Mutlu Tekay also participated and made academic contributions to the process.
