Res. Asst. Başak Lale Successfully Completed the Ph.D. Qualifying Exam!

Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts (FAF) Interior Architecture Department Res. Asst. Başak Lale took the "Doctoral Qualification Exam" within the scope of the Interior Architecture and Environmental Design Department Doctorate Program affiliated to the Fine Arts Institute. In the doctoral qualification jury, which was held under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Duygu Koca, a faculty member of Hacettepe University Faculty of Fine Arts, Prof. Dr. Nur Ayalp, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Umut Şumnu from Başkent University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Emre Demirel and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Alım Selin Mutdoğan from Hacettepe University were among the jury members. Res. Asst. Başak Lale, who first took the written exam on February 1, 2022, took the oral exam in the afternoon of the same day and successfully passed the doctoral qualification.
 
“Presenting the research you have completed on the subject you want to study to the opinion of academicians who are experts in that field not only determines your competence, but also expands your perspective on the subject.”
 
Lale, who plans to continue working in the field of Architecture and Interior Architecture history, stated that she will deepen her studies in line with the suggestions and guidance of the jury members, and expressed her thoughts as follows:
 
“The preparation process for the proficiency exam, which can be considered one of the most challenging exams of doctoral education, was quite stressful and intense for me. The opinions of the valuable jury members who are competent in their fields and have proven themselves with their work guided me about what I should examine at the proposal stage about my work position. In the written part of this exam, which took place in two stages, the mastery of the existing literature on the proficiency text I submitted was questioned, while in the oral part, it took place in an atmosphere of criticism. I would like to thank the members of the jury Prof. Dr. Nur Ayalp, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Umut Şumnu, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Emre Demirel, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Alım Selin Mutdoğan for their contribution and valuable approach to the proficiency exam I successfully completed, and my valuable advisor Assoc. Prof. Dr. Duygu Koca, who enlightened my path with her patience and experience throughout the whole process.”
