Muhammed Said ERDEMONAR, Lecturer at the Department of Interior Architecture, Faculty of Fine Arts (FAF), Istanbul Gelişim University (İGU), participated in the Metametrik platform, which makes blog posts, educational videos, workshops, sharing and production in the intersections of architecture, design, technology, informatics and daily life. He made a presentation titled “Marble Waste & Building Cycle” on the Youtube channel of the Metametrik platform.
Within the scope of the 220th “Wednesday Meetings” held every Wednesday, on November 20, 2024, Lecturer Muhammed Said ERDEMONAR gave a presentation in which he comparatively investigated the environmental effects of wastes originating from marble production with the life cycle assessment method in the building through different methods and examples. This presentation was also shared live on the Youtube platform. Lecturer Muhammed Said ERDEMONAR’s presentation can be accessed from the Metametrik Youtube platform.
Focusing on current issues in the field, this event created an important discussion area on architecture and sustainability. In the presentation, ERDEMONAR made an in-depth analysis on the environmental impacts of wastes originating from marble production. He discussed the impact of marble wastes on structures, the problems encountered in the construction cycle, and examples of recycling these wastes.
ERDEMONAR’s presentation also included various worldwide application examples regarding the recycling of marble wastes and their reuse as structural materials. These examples both offered solution suggestions to reduce environmental impacts and opened up discussions on what needs to be done to make the industry more sustainable. Modern technologies and innovative designs used in the recycling process of marble wastes provided aesthetic and functional contributions to structures while also demonstrating ways to minimize negative impacts on the environment.
We congratulate Lecturer Muhammed Said ERDEMONAR for this valuable presentation and contributions, and hope that his work will be a source of more inspiration for the sector.
