Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU) Fine Arts Faculty (FAF) Interior Architecture Department İbrahim Erol's Prof. Dr. The article titled "Propositions Regarding the Houses of the Future, Based on the Housing Perception of Generation Z in Turkey", written by Ayfer Aytuğ and Master Architect F. Esra Tanrıkulu, has been published.


The article titled “Propositions Regarding Future Housing Through Housing Perception of Generation Z in Turkey” written by İbrahim Erol, Department of Interior Architecture at Istanbul Gelişim University (IGU) Fine Arts Faculty (GSF) with Ayfer Aytuğ and Master Architect F. Esra Tanrıkulu Published in the Online Journal of Art and Design in January 2021.
 
İbrahim Erol made the following statements about the article:
“Within the scope of the study, the spatial perceptions of this generation were questioned by approaching the houses, which are living spaces, from the perspective of Generation Z, and their possible expectations in the houses they will live in in the future were investigated. In the study, after examining the housing culture, generation concept, and Generation Z conceptually, a survey study was conducted with 75 participants between the ages of 18-22. Participants' perception of housing; was evaluated through the concepts of belonging, privacy, flexibility, and aesthetics. In the light of the data obtained, suggestions have been developed regarding the future residences in Turkey, which can be shaped in line with the preferences of Generation Z.”
 
Summary of the article:
 
“The rapid change that affects many disciplines today shows itself in Turkey as well as in the world. Architecture also undergoes changes and transformations from time to time, especially with the effect of globalization, and is under the influence of the mental and psycho-social differentiation of individuals and societies. These differentiations may reveal tendencies to evolve into different forms in the houses of the future. Therefore, factors such as the perspective of Generation Z, who are the potential users of the houses of the future, their ability to interpret, and their commitment to cultural values, may change their psycho-social needs. For this reason, the way the Z Generation perceives the environment may play a role in the emergence of formal and functional changes in the houses of the future.
