 Future vision for ınternational students from IGU department of ınterior architecture: R&d and adaptation-oriented meeting!


Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts (FFA), Department of Interior Architecture organized a comprehensive information meeting to encourage the integration of international students into the academic process and their participation in research projects.


 The meeting, held on April 7, 2026, in classroom K-503 by the Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts (FFA), Department of Interior Architecture, was chaired by the Head of the Department, Asst. Prof. Kadir Öz. During the meeting, attended by department faculty members and international students, the importance of raising students not only with a focus on coursework but also as professionals with a Research and Development (R&D) culture was emphasized.
Full Integration with the "World University" Vision Speaking at the opening of the meeting, Dr. Kadir Öz highlighted the richness brought to the department by students from different cultures. He stated that their primary goal is for students to graduate as individuals who are fully integrated into academic and social life in Türkiye. Dr. Öz expressed that, in line with the university's "World University" vision, including international students in the local and global design ecosystem is among their top priorities.
Academic Career Opportunities with TÜBİTAK and BAP Projects In the academic support section, which formed the main agenda of the meeting, the importance of industry collaboration through TÜBİTAK 2209-A and 2209-B programs was detailed. Additionally, information was provided regarding the TÜBİTAK STAR scholarship program and the university's internal Scientific Research Projects (BAP). The value that participating in these projects as "assistant researchers" would add to the students' portfolios was underlined.
Emphasis on Accreditation and Sustainability for Future Architects During the interactive session, internship opportunities, the use of technical terminology, and cultural adaptation processes were analyzed. Touching upon the career advantages of international accreditation processes such as AQAS for post-graduation opportunities in Europe and worldwide, Asst. Prof. Dr. Kadir Öz drew attention to the necessity of sustainability and universal design in modern interior architecture.
The meeting concluded after listening to the students' wishes and suggestions, with a promise of individual consultancy regarding their academic development processes.
