Interior Architecture








 Asst. Prof. Kadir Öz Appointed as Acting Head of the Interior Architecture Department


Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts (FFA), Interior Architecture Department is starting the Spring Term of the 2024-2025 Academic Year under the leadership of Asst. Prof. Kadir Öz.


Asst. Prof. Kadir Öz has been appointed as the Head of the Interior Architecture Department at the Faculty of Fine Arts (FFA) of Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU). Dr. Öz began his academic career with a bachelor's degree in Architecture at Selçuk University and completed his master's and doctoral studies in Architecture at Gazi University.

His academic interests include architecture, architectural design, interdisciplinary project management, and BIM process algorithms. Throughout his career, he has played an active role in managing and structuring the various stages of the design process, from conceptualization to implementation, and has conducted studies on the efficient management of these processes. In addition to his academic career, he has served as a project author in various architectural projects of different scales and types.

Dr. Öz's research focuses on developing a conceptual model for all design processes, aiming to optimize interdisciplinary collaboration through algorithmic integration. In this regard, he seeks to evolve traditional design approaches by introducing innovative methodologies.

As the new Head of the Interior Architecture Department, Dr. Öz aims to enhance the department's academic standards, increase its national and international recognition, and ensure that students receive a contemporary and innovative education aligned with the demands of the modern era. To achieve these goals, he prioritizes updating the curriculum, strengthening industry collaborations, and promoting research projects.

Regarding his appointment, Asst. Prof. Kadir Öz shared his thoughts:

"I consider this position, to which I have been appointed by the esteemed Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Prof. Şükran Güzin Ilıcak Aydınalp, as a relay race. I extend my gratitude to my esteemed colleague, Asst. Prof. Gökhan Balcıoğlu, who has represented our department with great dedication and taken it to its current high standards. The achievements of the Interior Architecture Department bring new responsibilities for us. Aware of this, I am confident that we will work together with dedication as the Interior Architecture Department, the Faculty of Fine Arts, and Istanbul Gelisim University as a whole to take our success even further. I wish all our faculty members and students a successful and fulfilling academic term. Sincerely."
