 An Inspiring Social Responsibility Project from Istanbul Gelişim University: “Women Who Inspire Development”


As part of the “Women Inspiring Development Social Responsibility Project” organized by Istanbul Gelişim University Faculty of Fine Arts, a trip was organized to Chiharu Shiota’s “Between Worlds” exhibition at Istanbul Modern on October 30, 2024.


Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts (FAF), has launched the “Women Inspiring Development Social Responsibility Project” in order to draw attention to the role of women in society and to raise awareness through art. This women-focused project aims to support women's work and increase social sensitivity in the fight against violence against women. The project, carried out by Res. Asst. Ayten Bengisu Cansever Bayhan, Res. Asst. Eliz Mutlu Tekay and Res. Asst. Başak Lale, aims to reach a wide audience with a three-phase plan.
 
Chiharu Shiota “Between Worlds” Exhibition Tour
As part of the first phase of the project, a tour was organized to Chiharu Shiota's exhibition “Between Worlds” at Istanbul Modern on October 30, 2024. The event was attended by Res. Asst. Başak Lale, Res. Asst. Eliz Mutlu Tekay, Res. Asst. Ayten Bengisu Cansever Bayhan, Res. Asst. Ezginaz Kara, Res. Asst. Gökçe Uzgören and Res. Asst. Okan Kırbacı participated. This exhibition tour provided participants with the opportunity to see the power and importance of women's art through the works of women artists.
Combating Violence Against Women Talk
The second phase of the project will be a talk event with Mor Çatı volunteer Zuhal Güreli on November 27, as part of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women on November 25. This talk aims to inform participants about strategies to combat violence against women and to draw attention to the importance of women's work.
Last Stage: Online Exhibition with QR Code
In the last phase of the project, an online exhibition with QR codes will be placed at various points of Istanbul Gelişim University in December. This exhibition aims to reach a wide audience by allowing participants to share their artistic experiences.
Supported by Istanbul Gelişim University, this project aims to utilize the unifying and effective power of art to strengthen women's place in society and raise awareness against violence against women.
