A noteworthy event took place as part of World Disability Week, held between May 10–16. Turkey’s first AI-supported audio descriptive poster exhibition, curated by Asst. Prof. Nuri Sezer of Istanbul Gelisim University Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Graphic Design, was launched on May 10, 2025, at the AKM Ibrahim Calli Art Gallery, in collaboration with the Municipality of Büyükçekmece.
The exhibition featured poster designs by students from Istanbul Gelisim University, Istanbul Arel University, Istanbul Nisantasi University, and Beykent University. Supported by the Bilecik Engelsiz Yarinlar Association, the project offered participants a chance to empathize with the daily experiences of individuals with disabilities and highlighted the importance of accessibility through design and technology. The posters were enriched with AI-supported audio descriptions, ensuring that visually impaired visitors could also fully engage with the exhibition.
The event stood out not only for its aesthetic and communicative aspects but also for its social responsibility message. Through the posters, participants gained insight into the physical and social barriers faced by people with disabilities, while receiving a strong message that these challenges can be overcome together. This exhibition, which brought together designs from students of various universities, became a powerful example of interdisciplinary collaboration and social sensitivity.
We sincerely thank all stakeholders who contributed to this meaningful exhibition held under the leadership of Asst. Prof. Dr. Nuri Sezer from Istanbul Gelisim University Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Graphic Design. We hope that this significant step toward an accessible life will inspire future projects.
