The Department of Graphic Design at Istanbul Gelişim University Faculty of Fine Arts hosted a significant event addressing the innovations encountered by design disciplines in the era of digital transformation. The workshop and talk titled “Graphic Design and Artificial Intelligence in the Quantum Age” was held on April 17 and attracted strong participation.
The speaker, Dr. Şeref Kocaman, Assistant Professor, is known for his efforts to bridge academia and the industry as the Corporate Communication Coordinator and Head of the Department of Graphic Design at Tekirdağ Namık Kemal University. In his presentation, Dr. Kocaman provided a comprehensive overview of the role of artificial intelligence in graphic design, how designers can integrate these tools into their practice, and how design is evolving in the quantum computing era.
The first part of the event featured Dr. Kocaman’s presentation, which sparked an in-depth discussion on the opportunities offered by AI in the creative process, how designers can make technology a collaborative partner, and what the future holds for the graphic design profession. Particular emphasis was placed on how AI influences aesthetic decision-making processes, which garnered significant attention from the participants.
Following the talk, a hands-on workshop allowed students and attendees to experience AI-assisted design tools first-hand. Through this session, participants gained practical knowledge on effectively utilizing technology in creative workflows and began creating their own designs using AI-powered platforms.
At the end of the event, participation certificates were presented to attendees, and a plaque of appreciation was awarded to the speaker. Faculty members and students of the Department of Graphic Design emphasized the importance of such events not only for academic development but also for raising sectoral awareness.
