The article titled
“The Aesthetic and Political Transformation of the Avant-Garde's Walk into the Public Sphere” authored by
Dr. Ceren İren, a faculty member in the Graphic Design Department at Istanbul Gelişim University (IGU) Faculty of Fine Arts (FFA), has been published in the
International Journal of Communication and Arts.
The article begins with the aesthetic ruptures introduced by avant-garde art in the early 20th century and examines the new relationships art establishes with the public sphere within an aesthetic and political framework. Dr. İren emphasizes that the shift of art out of galleries and museums towards public spaces is not merely a formal change but also a form of social interaction. The study also opens a discussion on the new forms of relationships art establishes with the audience during its democratization process and the position of art production within its social context.
This study by Dr. Ceren İren addresses the transformation of contemporary art from an
interdisciplinary perspective, inviting a reconsideration of art's role in the social arena.
The Faculty of Fine Arts at Istanbul Gelişim University congratulates our esteemed faculty member, Dr. Ceren İren, for this significant academic contribution, and thanks her for her valuable contributions to art and science.
