Catalogue of the international “Memory, Identity and Representation” group exhibition published

The catalogue of the International “Memory, Identity and Representation” Group Exhibition, organized in collaboration with STA Congress and Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU) Faculty of Fine Arts (FAF), has been published. Bringing together works by artists from various artistic disciplines, the catalogue transforms the exhibition into a permanent digital archive and makes the featured works accessible to art enthusiasts and researchers.

Held in July 2026, the International “Memory, Identity and Representation” Group Exhibition explored the formation of individual and collective memory, the multiple layers of identity, and the ways in which these concepts are represented through art. Bringing diverse artistic practices together under a common framework, the exhibition presented different interpretations of memory and identity through a variety of visual forms of expression.

The online selection of the international group exhibition featured a total of 28 works by 25 artists: Nilüfer Özakçaoğlu, Ali Aşur Delen, Beşir Yücedal, Betül Tanrıkulu Karaduman, Deniz Özeskici, Doğan Özdemir, Emet Egemen Işık Aslan, Fatih Altınışık, Gamze Ateş, Gökçe Arifoğlu, İbrahim Üner, İrem Polat, Mehmet Erol Çapur, Mevlüt Can Koçak, Mutlu Köpüklü, Nisa Özdemir, Ömer Aydın, Pınar Urtekin Alpsoy, Salih Ezen, Serpil Kapar, Serpil Uysal, Şöhret Sel, Zeynep Cengiz, Dilara Pala Öztürk and Esra Şener.

The works featured in the exhibition offer a broad conceptual framework ranging from the relationship between the past and the present to personal experiences, from collective memory and belonging to the formation of individual identity and cultural representation. By bringing together the distinctive approaches of different artists, the concepts of “memory,” “identity” and “representation” are addressed not through a single narrative, but from a pluralistic and interdisciplinary perspective.

Published following the exhibition, the catalogue ensures that the event is not limited to its exhibition period by documenting the artworks and making them accessible in the long term. Bringing together the works presented in the exhibition, the digital catalogue also serves as a resource that enables different artistic approaches to shared concepts to be examined collectively.

Significant in terms of documenting artistic production and making it accessible in a digital environment, the catalogue brings together the exhibition’s conceptual framework and the participating artists’ works within a permanent archive. In this way, the International “Memory, Identity and Representation” Group Exhibition extends beyond the online exhibition experience and becomes a digital resource for artists, academics, students and art researchers.

Organized through the collaboration between STA Congress and Istanbul Gelisim University Faculty of Fine Arts, the event contributes to bringing academic production and artistic practice together in the fields of art and design, while also enabling works from different disciplines to reach wider audiences.
