 Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nuri Sezer represented Turkish Art in France


Assoc. Prof. Nuri Sezer, faculty member of the Department of Graphic Design at Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts (FFA), participated in the “Traces from the Academy” exhibition held in Luxeuil-les-Bains, France, and presented his works to an international audience.


Assoc. Prof. Nuri Sezer, faculty member of the Department of Graphic Design at Istanbul Gelisim University, Faculty of Fine Arts, represented Turkish art by participating in an international exhibition in France. Opened on August 12, 2025, at the Espace Frichet Art Gallery in the city of Luxeuil-les-Bains, the exhibition titled “Traces from the Academy” brought together the works of 15 academic artists from Turkey with French art enthusiasts.
Curated by Dr. Ayşe Tuncay, the exhibition featured contemporary and conceptual works in the fields of painting, printmaking, and illustration. The works of Assoc. Prof. Nuri Sezer, reflecting his long-standing academic knowledge and aesthetic approach, drew significant attention from the audience. His participation contributed to the international visibility of Istanbul Gelisim University’s artistic productions.
The opening ceremony was attended by Martine Bavard, Deputy Mayor of Luxeuil-les-Bains and former Member of Parliament responsible for culture, Ersin Arslan, Director of Culture of Audincourt Municipality, French artists, and many guests. Translation support, provided by Eflal Özer, enabled the works to engage more closely with the French audience, further enhancing the impact of the exhibition.
Praised in the French press, the “Traces from the Academy” exhibition was regarded as an important step in strengthening the presence of Turkish academic artists in the international art arena. Bringing together works from different disciplines, the exhibition highlighted cultural diversity and artistic dialogue.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nuri Sezer’s participation in this international event not only made his artistic production more visible but also enhanced the academic and cultural representation of Istanbul Gelisim University on a global scale. This contribution stands as a significant gateway for the university’s efforts in art education and international cultural collaborations.
