Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU) continues to draw attention to environmental issues by utilizing the power of art and design to create social awareness. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nuri Sezer, a faculty member of the Graphic Design Department at the Faculty of Fine Arts (FFA), brought the electronic waste problem to the agenda with an original exhibition carried out jointly with his student Kadir Döner.
The exhibition, titled “Recycling of Electronic Waste,” consists of works where the artists transformed discarded computer parts, cables, and other electronic materials into artistic objects. The exhibition highlights themes of sustainability and recycling, demonstrating that waste materials can find new life through creativity.
The exhibition, which opened on November 25, 2025, at the Bakırköy Municipality Education Hall, was curated by Ebru Cengiz. Beyond its artistic quality, the exhibition is highly significant because it addresses electronic waste (e-waste), a major environmental issue today, through the language of art.
The environmentally friendly and creative collaboration between Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nuri Sezer and his student Kadir Döner once again demonstrated that our university prioritizes social responsibility consciousness alongside artistic education. The event served as a successful example of both collaboration with local administrations and joint academic-student projects.
