Assoc. Prof. Aysun Cançat's Solo Exhibition "Umbrella Anecdotes" Opens

The solo exhibition "Umbrella Anecdotes" by Assoc. Prof. Aysun Cançat, a faculty member in the Graphic Design Department of İstanbul Gelisim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts (FFA), has been presented to art enthusiasts with a selection that blends the expressive power of art with the irony of everyday life. The works in the exhibition focus on human life, social relationships, and individual experiences through the metaphor of the umbrella.
Through the symbolic elements she uses in her works, Cançat questions concepts such as protection, concealment, hope, and fragility. The artist treats the umbrella not merely as a physical object, but also as a metaphor reflecting the individual's inner world. Each piece invites the viewer to contemplation with both its formal aspects and its layers of meaning.
"Umbrella Anecdotes" reflects the paradoxes and emotional intensities of modern human's daily life through the narrative power Cançat constructs with her language of color, form, and symbol. Adopting an ironic approach, the artist transforms the ordinary with an artistic language, while also allowing the viewer to project their own internal story onto the works.
