Ceren İren (1991-Şişli), started her painting education in Edirne High School of Fine Arts in 2005, worked in the fields of drawing, printmaking, painting and sculpture. She started her bachelor at Trakya University, Faculty of Fine Arts, Painting Department in 2009 and continued at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, Painting Department in 2011. In addition to her works in the painting workshop, she continued her artistic studies by taking advantage of the different technical possibilities of the engraving workshop. After her graduation in 2014, she was entitled to enter the Basic Art and Design Master's Program at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, Department of Basic Education in the same year. In 2017, Assoc. Dr. Under the consultancy of Ceyda GÜLER, she completed the text of the work titled "Insect Form in Art from the Twentieth Century to the Present" and started MSGSU Basic Art and Design Proficiency in Art Program in 2018 and continued. During this period, she continued her painting and engraving works and took part in various group exhibitions. With her 8-piece work titled “Pinned Insects”, she won the right to exhibit at Mamut Art Project- Yapı Kredi Bomontiada in 2020. In 2021, her articles titled “The Mantis Metaphor in the Paintings of Andre Masson, Salvador Dali and Marx Ernst” and “Cultural Entomology and Insect Form in Egyptian Art” were published. Currently, the text of the art proficiency work titled "The Representation of the Forms and Behaviors of the Bee Society in Art" is presented to Assoc. Dr. Ceyda GÜLER, continues her painting and engraving works in Beşiktaş with an interdisciplinary understanding of art.
Concentrating on Cultural Entomology, Iren describes her work as follows: “The main subject of my work is insects. I aim to draw attention to both the ecological importance and visual beauty of insects, which are seen as worthless and often disgusted, despite having a much larger population than other living things combined. For this, I reproduce insect collections with different plastic elements. It constructs my patterns formally, just like a collection; On the other hand, I benefit from the bees' production behavior by accumulating.”
