Assist. Prof. Dr. Erdem Çağla, a lecturer in the Department of Graphic Design at Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU) Faculty of Fine Arts, has authored a new academic study situated at the intersection of artificial intelligence and the music industry, offering valuable insights into the role of technology in art. Titled “AI-Powered Music Videos: Production, Aesthetics, and Transformation”, the comprehensive study explores the expanding role of artificial intelligence in creative production processes from multiple dimensions.
In the study, Çağla investigates how AI technology is transforming modes of creative expression within the context of music videos. Contributions of AI in stages such as scriptwriting, visual composition, facial modeling, animation, scene design, and post-production are analyzed not only from a technical standpoint but also in terms of aesthetic value.
The research includes in-depth examinations of the operational principles of current video production tools such as Reface, Dream Machine, Fal AI, Hailuo AI, Runway ML, Leonardo AI, and Topaz Gigapixel. Concrete examples are drawn from music videos by well-known artists such as Ezhel, Aydilge, Ebru Gündeş, and Zerrin Özer. In addition to the creativity-enhancing potential of these AI tools, the study also addresses technical limitations such as facial distortions, scene duration restrictions, and resolution issues.
In the conclusion, the study emphasizes that AI accelerates production, adds variety, and opens new creative spaces for artists. At the same time, it calls for a reassessment of foundational concepts such as originality, ethics, and the role of human labor in artistic creation. Assist. Prof. Dr. Erdem Çağla’s work provides a unique reference framework for the future relationship between art and technology.
This academic contribution by Assist. Prof. Dr. Çağla not only raises awareness of typographic and visual applications within the academic community and design practice, but also adds new value to the scholarly achievements of IGU’s Department of Graphic Design.
