 Open call: Design your CAMEKÂN


İKSV Down Floor makes an open call to designers for a public space application to be realized in collaboration with Istanbul Design Biennial and Graphic Designers Professional Organization (GMK). Within the scope of the project realized with the support of Istanbul Development Agency (ISTKA), in March 2019, IKSV Lower Floor, which was opened on the ground floor of the Nejat Eczacıbaşı Building in Şişhane: A 6-square meter showcase located on the front of the Learning and Interaction Area; gaining function as space.


What is CAMEKÂN?
Within the scope of the program prepared by Istanbul Design Biennial in cooperation with İKSV Lower Floor and Graphic Designers Professional Organization (GMK), since March 2019, a work that will be produced by a young graphic designer or communication designer based on the main design titles will be produced in a public space. display. The second leg of the project will continue until March 2020.
 
The projects to be determined by the selection committee as a result of the open call will be exhibited in İKSV Lower Floor's showcase for a period of one month starting from August 1, 2019.

 
Applications will be evaluated by a 5-person committee consisting of İKSV team and Graphic Designers Professional Organization members. The selected designers will be consulted by the board members in the process and the implementation process of the designs will be supported. Second term board members:

Application requirements and considerations
 
Point, Line, Form, Color, Texture, Dimension, Motion, Symmetry / Asymmetry, Positive / Negative. Designers who want to participate in the CAMEKÂN project should act on one to three of these titles that form the basis of design. The different concepts and the structure of the work to be added to them are entirely at the discretion of the designers.
The designs that will be produced will be exhibited in a 2.5 m x 2.4 m, 30 cm deep display. You can think of your work in three dimensions or in two dimensions and use different materials or printing methods such as typography, photography, and video.
When designing the project, you should keep in mind that there are two more windows on the front facade of the İKSV Lower Floor and these visuals are included in the Istanbul Culture and Arts Foundation. You should make sure that your project has a structure that will not lose its visibility next to these two glasses.
Designers should not be older than 26 years.
It is possible to participate in the project from cities other than Istanbul, but the transportation costs should be covered by the designers if they need to come to Istanbul after the acceptance phase, both during the preparation and installation process.
Applicants must be students, or graduates, of graphic design or visual communication design departments of universities.
Designers should be aware that a limited budget for projects (maximum 2,000 TL per project) will be worked.

When will the results be announced?
The designs that will be exhibited in August 2019 - March 2020 will be announced on 26 June 2019 at the Istanbul Design Biennial, GMK and İKSV Lower Floor websites. Candidates who do not qualify to participate will not be given a detailed description or feedback.
