The third of the Stars in Vision interview series organized by the Radio, Television and Cinema Department of Istanbul Gelişim University (IGU) Fine Arts Faculty (FAF) with the title of Film and TV Series Acting. It was moderated by Asst. Prof. Dr. Önder Paker. There was great interest in the interview, in which actress and presenter Evrim Akın was a guest.
Evrim Akın, who started the conversation by telling how she started acting, stated that she participated in the auditions for a theater play in high school but was not selected. She talked about how a project started and at what stage it reached the actress and how she developed the character after meeting the character. While conveying how the stereotypes used by the characters she played developed, she stated that she had a creative environment and was influenced by the people around her.
Stating that she has a selective attitude about projects, Akın said that she tried to play a different character each time in her acting career, and that she did not want to take refuge in a single role. She stated that she has three indispensable rules: not to enter any series later, not to be an actress in one episode, and not to play the same character. She said that she has two new series projects that she wrote and that she is working on them.
Talking about the television-audience relationship, the series she liked to watch other than the TV series she played, the length of the domestic TV series and the difficulties this situation created for the TV series crews, and the censorship mechanisms operating on television, Akın stated that she also loves being on the theater stage.
Answering the questions from the students, Akın gave advice for those who want to be a presenter. She stated that they need to do a lot of reading and develop their improvisational side. While making character analysis, she applied the animal expansion method; identifying her characters with an animal, she said that she shaped the movements of the character through the characteristics specific to that animal. On the question of whether there is an age limit to become an actress, Asst. Prof. Dr. Member Önder Paker stated that there is no age limit and that acting training can be taken at any age. Evrim Akın agreed with the same view and added that the experience was an achievement for acting.
We would like to thank Evrim Akın for sharing her experiences and valuable information with us.
