This year, the fifth edition of the Different Natural Stone Design Competition, organized by Marble İzmir and İzmir Fair Services Culture and Art Affairs Trade Corporation (İZFAŞ), aims to bring students interested in design into the sector. In this context, two different meetings were organized by the Department of Interior Architecture & Interior Architecture and Environmental Design to encourage students to participate in the 5th International Different Natural Stone Design Competition. The first meeting was held on October 20, 2022 at 21:00, and the second on October 25, 2022 at 11:15, with the online participation of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Selçuk Demirci in the 14th floor design studio of Gelişim Tower (K Blok).
At the meetings, Head of Interior Architecture Department Asst. Prof. Dr. Parvin Heidari briefly introduced the invited speaker and mentioned the importance of the competitions for the profession of interior architecture, and then left the floor to the invited speaker, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Selçuk Demirci. Ege University Furniture and Decoration Department faculty member Selçuk Demirci shared detailed information about the competition. After Demirci gave information on various subjects such as the purpose of the competition, the theme, product category, application dates, the competition application process, the important points in the competition specifications, the members of the jury, the awards awaiting the winners of the competition, the questions of the students and faculty members were answered.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Parvin Heidari pointed out that the competitions are very important for interior architecture students as they provide students with the opportunity to research, develop and share ideas about different places, subjects, scales. Emphasizing that they especially care about the participation of students working on housing, Heidari stated that the second meeting was held on Tuesday, October 25, when Design Studio I and Interior Architecture Studio I courses were conducted, with emphasis on the lecturers and students of the Department of Interior Architecture & Interior Architecture and Environmental Design. Finally, he conveyed his best wishes to the students who will participate in the competition.
