And he successfully completed his doctoral education.
"Istanbul Gelişim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts (FFA), Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design (Tr&Eng), Lecturer Brahim Erol successfully defended his doctoral thesis and completed his doctoral education in the Department of Architecture, Graduate School of Education at Fatih Sultan Mehmet Foundation University. Erol, who successfully defended his doctoral thesis titled "A Design Guide for the Reuse of Indoor Sports Facilities in Pandemic Disease Processes," shared his thoughts by saying, "I dedicate this work to all the people, especially my loved ones, who lost their lives in pandemics and other disasters, with the hope that pandemic disease processes, which have influenced the determination of my thesis topic, will not happen again."
The summary of Lecturer Brahim Erol's doctoral thesis titled "A Design Guide for the Reuse of Indoor Sports Facilities in Pandemic Disease Processes" is as follows: "Pandemic diseases have occurred at various intervals throughout history, affecting cities, countries, and sometimes a large part of the world, causing material and spiritual damages. Despite advances in science and evolving technologies, all processes can be relived with the emergence of a new pandemic disease. The time spent on making definitions related to pandemic diseases and implementing treatment processes can increase the impact of pandemics on societies depending on the rate of spread. When a respiratory-borne pandemic disease is involved, changes can occur in the flow of social life. The field of architecture, like all other disciplines, can be affected by these changes. While some structures may temporarily become non-functional during the pandemic process, healthcare facilities can be redesigned to address the pandemic. This extraordinary situation can lead to disruptions and limitations in healthcare services. Within the scope of the thesis, a design guide has been developed through the evaluation of the strategy of reusing the existing building stock for the sustainability of healthcare services in respiratory-borne pandemic disease processes, with a focus on indoor sports facilities."
We congratulate Lecturer Dr. İbrahim Erol on completing his doctoral education and wish him success in his academic career."
