Interior Architecture And Environmental Design (English)

“I Feel Lucky to Be In A Country With A Great History Of Architecture”

Numan Rahmati, a second-year student at Istanbul Gelişim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts (GSF), Interior Architecture and Environmental Design (English) Department, was interviewed about Turkey, architectural education and Istanbul Gelişim University.

Living in Istanbul undoubtedly has different meanings for many different people. Besides people who go to Istanbul for a certain or permanent period to travel or work, many students may stop by Istanbul at one point in their education adventure for different reasons. When it comes to architecture, we know that Istanbul has a deeper meaning for the students of the Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design (English). In order to shed light on the subject, Istanbul Gelişim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts (GSF), Interior Architecture and Environmental Design (English) Department Research Assistant Mustafa Dallı interviewed our department student Numan Rahmati. We listen to Numan Rahmati's views within the framework of Turkey, architectural education, and Istanbul Gelişim University...

• First, where are you from and how long have you been in Turkey?
• I am originally from Afghanistan Panjshir and came to Istanbul Turkey in 2017. It has been almost five years since I came to Istanbul.

• What was your reason for choosing this department?
• It took me a long time to choose a suitable section for myself, and after long research, I realized that the section caught my attention. After doing research and learning about the department, I saw that the department offers very good opportunities in the future. I can say that I happily chose this department, especially because it requires creativity.

• Why did you choose Istanbul Gelişim University for Interior Architecture and Environmental Design Education?
• I wanted to continue my education at a university with English education. Since Istanbul Gelisim University has such an opportunity, studying here was an option for me. Of course, that's not the only reason. Every employee, staff, teacher, in short, everyone working at Istanbul Gelişim University was incredibly kind to us. This kind of attitude is something we rarely see nowadays, and that's why I have always recommended Gelisim University to people.

• Why did you choose to study Interior Architecture and Environmental Design in Turkey?
• Turkey is where I live. At this point, I feel lucky to be in a country with a great historical background in architecture. If we take a closer look today, Turkey, with its modern designs and cosmopolitan structure, may be one of the best options for students who want to study in the Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design.

• In which fields do you want to work when you graduate from the Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design? What are your future plans?
• I was a freshman at university last year, so I think it's too early to specify a precise field. There are so many different areas to work in, so I don't know what's going to happen for me. Maybe residential architecture, maybe I'll learn what's best for me during my summer internship.
We would like to thank Interior Architecture and Environmental Design (English) Student Numan Rahmati and wish him success in his education life.
