“Concrete Flower Pot Making Workshop with Kalif Design” Was Held Within The Scope of “IAE Design Events”!

The first workshop event of the "IAEDesign" events series organized by Istanbul Gelişim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts (FFA), Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design (English) was held with the participation of Kalif Design founder Architect Mehmet Hacıosmanoğlu and his team.

On Thursday, May 23rd, at 2:00 PM, the event held at the J Block Hangar area began with the introduction of guest Architect Mehmet Hacıosmanoğlu. The event, moderated by Dr. Lecturer İbrahim Erol, featured Mehmet Hacıosmanoğlu presenting Kalif Design and its products. Hacıosmanoğlu provided detailed information about the products and materials, followed by a hands-on demonstration of the "lightweight concrete planter production" process.

In the practical part of the event, the materials used in concrete production were first assembled and poured into the prepared mold. Hacıosmanoğlu shared essential tips with the students during these stages, and then demonstrated the sanding and polishing processes for the planter after it was removed from the mold. The final form of the lightweight concrete planter, made using natural stone, was shown to the students.

During the concrete preparation phase, Hacıosmanoğlu emphasized important details such as the ratios of the materials used and the required time for the mixture to be homogeneous. He explained in detail how the consistency of the concrete mix should be and how to achieve this ideal consistency. Information was also provided about the drying time of the poured concrete and methods that can be applied to speed up this process. After the concrete planter was removed from the mold, Hacıosmanoğlu highlighted the points to consider during the sanding process to ensure the surface is smooth. He demonstrated how to sand the surface without damaging it and detailed the materials used during the polishing process to achieve the final finish of the planter.

During the workshop, various Kalif Design products such as tables, coffee tables, and planters were also showcased. These designs highlighted the company's success in combining aesthetics with functionality. Students had the opportunity to ask questions about the displayed products, and Hacıosmanoğlu provided extensive information about the design processes, materials used, and production techniques of the products.

Great Opportunity for Students!

One of the most exciting moments of the event was the announcement that Kalif Design would accept İGÜ students for summer internships. The firm's desire to directly interact with students and contribute to their career development was met with great enthusiasm by the students. The event, which garnered significant interest from the students, concluded with a Q&A session.

We extend our gratitude to Mr. Mehmet Hacıosmanoğlu and the entire Kalif Design team, as well as to all the students who participated.
