18 May Museums Day Theme; Museums, Sustainability and Welfare

While the International Council of Museums (ICOM) celebrates the "18 May Museums Day" with various activities to protect the world cultural heritage and promote museums, the main theme for 2023 has been determined as "Museums, Sustainability and Welfare" by the ICOM International Council of Museums.

To emphasize the importance of museums that ensure the promotion of cultural assets and the protection of historical artifacts, 18 May was declared World Museums Day by UNESCO.

Since 1982, 18-24 May has been celebrated as the week of museums every year in Turkey. Museums in many cities in Turkey can be visited free of charge this week.
