Spatial Research in the Age of Crises and Transformations
Call for Book Chapters

The world is in a transition period and global changes are concrete, visible, and measurable. The major challenges we have to face, such as climate change, migration, demographic change, increasing social inequality, economic imbalance, or the digitalization of living and working environments, trigger various transformation processes at different spatial scales and change social interactions. Changes in the physical domain (such as infrastructures, buildings, flora, and fauna) and changes in the socio-cultural domain (stakeholders, institutions, policy) constantly trigger each other.

We are at a complex junction of the man-made world and natural laws in the Anthropocene era, which represents a period in which human intervention in the evolutionary processes of nature has increased to an extraordinary level. In this new era, recognized by the respected scientific community, we are looking for ways to understand the new realities that emerge in the interaction of environmental, social, and cultural dynamics and to survive with them.

In this critical period, as Istanbul Gelişim University, Faculty of Fine Arts, Departments of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design (TR & EN), we would like to draw attention to the importance of spatial research and the diversity of potential contributions in this field. The book titled "Spatial Studies in the Age of Crises and Transformations" focuses on an interdisciplinary perspective to better understand the transformation processes experienced in our age and to produce sustainable solutions.

This book will focus on a wide range of spatial studies, from product to interior design, from architecture to landscaping and urban planning. However, we believe that this book will derive its strength from the coming together of various academics making contributions from different disciplines. We invite experts from all disciplines, from engineers to anthropologists, from ecologists to sociologists, to participate in this project where spatial transformation processes are discussed.

We invite you, our valued academicians working in all faculties of our university, to take part in this project. We believe that contributions from every field of expertise will present a rich diversity and a multifaceted perspective to our book, which will discuss global problems and potential solutions. Our book, which will address issues such as climate change, urban transformation, sustainability, and technological advances within spatial transformation processes, will be an important resource both in the academic world and in practice.

Our valued academics who would like to share their expertise, research, or experience on these issues, and contribute to our understanding of spatial transformation processes and our desire to lay the foundations of a livable world, can send an email to pheidari@gelisim.edu.tr and etatlisu@gelisim.edu.tr with the subject heading "Book Contribution". We welcome you to contact us by sending an e-mail. You can access the publication conditions of our book and information about the book by clicking on the link, and you can ask any questions you may have via e-mail.

We know that scholars from every discipline who contribute to this book will enrich their seminal perspectives on spatial studies in an age of crises and transformation.
Thank you in advance for your valuable contributions.
