The aim of the Graphic Design Department is to train professional graphic designers who can realize all kinds of projects in the fields of typography and printed graphic design, develop solutions for the problems that arise during the design process of the project, and ensure that the design process is a sustainable design that is compatible with the environment and society. In this context, the planned 4-year curriculum consists of practical and theoretical courses, and it sheds light for graduates to work in advertising agencies, graphic design companies, printing houses, publishing houses, packaging companies, advertising departments of other companies in the private sector and similar fields of activity.
In the 1st and 2nd semesters of the curriculum, there are applied and theoretical courses where students can learn the basic principles of design, improve their ability to see three-dimensionally and transfer what they see to drawing, as well as grasp the basic notions of art history. Basic Drawing lessons, which are based on the acquisition of vision, two-dimensional and three-dimensional thinking skills, are held in the Department's Drawing Workshop.
With the inclusion of field-based courses in the curriculum in the 3rd and 4th semesters, the studios are started to be used actively. There are two computer studios within the Department of Graphic Design, one PC Lab and the other Mac Lab. Practical courses such as Graphic Design Studio, Typography, Illustration, Packaging Design are held in these studios. PC Lab with a capacity of 26 computers and MAC Lab with a capacity of 50 computers offer a comfortable and comfortable practice experience to all students.
With the addition of the Original Printing course to the curriculum, which continues with the field courses in the 5th and 6th semesters, the 3rd grade students are introduced to a new workshop. Graphic Design students have the opportunity to produce by using the design elements and principles they learned in the first year at the Original Printing Workshop. Students who learn printing techniques, which can be considered as the basis of graphic design, can get various prints with the opportunities offered by the workshop and have the opportunity to develop their artistic skills.
Students who reach the graduation stage in the 7th and 8th semesters produce original graduation projects by making use of the courses they have taken in the field. Students who pass the Graduation Project course and all the courses they are responsible for in the 4-year curriculum are entitled to graduate.
