Students of Istanbul Gelişim University Fine Arts Faculty Graphic Design, Fashion and Textile Design Departments examined the works that took place in the Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University Painting and Sculpture Museum within the scope of the 16th Istanbul Design Biennial, which was held this year between September 14 and November 10, 2019.
This year's theme of the biennial, which was organized with the theme that the world we live in has entered a new geological age and was curated by the French writer and academician Nicolas Bourriaud, was determined as "The Seventh Continent". The Seventh Continent defines art as an anthropology that explores human influences, paths, traces, and interactions with non-humans. It constitutes a starting point for the 16th Istanbul Biennial to explore the current state of art in the face of ecological problems, together with many artists, thinkers, anthropologists and environmentalists.
In this context, the students of the department had the opportunity to closely examine the works that examine the destruction of nature, climate change, the human intervention process in nature and the interaction of this process with humans.
