Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU) Faculty of Fine Arts (GSF) Graphic Design Department lecturer Dr. Instructor Member Aysun Cançat's study named 'On Lowbrow' was published in the Journal of Atatürk University Faculty of Fine Arts.

In this study, it is aimed to evaluate the Lowbrow art movement, which dates back to dadaism, conceptual art, pop art and started to develop at the end of the 1970s, and recent examples. Movement; It appears with the name 'Lowbrow' (low/short eyebrow) in opposition to the 'high art' approach with an elitist and elitist attitude. In the modern understanding, exhibitions for these masses were held in art spaces such as galleries and museums. In particular, Lowbrow, which was active after 1960, opposed these modern art spaces; He saw himself close to formations such as underground comics, punk music, illustration and street culture and started to sprout with these understandings. Therefore, the fact that it came from such an infrastructure, not from the disciplines of fine arts, caused the movement to enter into a certain lack of identity. Technically, it has been seen that there are applications in various sculptures, ceramics, arrangements and even in technological pieces such as mobile phones, as well as techniques such as oil on canvas and acrylic.
