Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts (GSF), Graphic Design Department faculty member Assoc. Dr. Aysun Cançat participated in the virtual exhibition organized by Kocaeli University within the scope of "Arrhythmia: 1st International Art Symposium" with her collage work "Fanus".
“Arrhythmia”: It is an international symposium organized with the motive of needing new information, science and art more than ever in order to get out of a world where movement is restricted, cities become desolate and being side by side becomes frightening, where the normal rhythm of life is disrupted. Organized by Kocaeli University Faculty of Fine Arts on 16-20 November 2021, the symposium aims to discuss the effects of the "Pandemic Process on Art and Art Education", new formations and changes in an academic platform and to note the results of this discussion in history. The symposium aims to reveal the problems encountered in art, daily life, social environment, human psychology, definitions of public space, new urban memory, art productions and performances as a result of digitalization, which has accelerated rapidly with the pandemic process, and to develop new solution proposals. The event aims to present a scientific and artistic initiative with an interdisciplinary approach.
Cançat's thoughts on his work is actually my work called “Fanus”; It is an abstract pictorial description of these difficult processes we are in. In my work in collage technique; There is an image of a flower, which is partly damaged and partly alive, inside a glass bell jar. This flower with different effects is associated with all beings in the difficult world we live in, who try to stand upright despite all the difficulties of life. The transparency of the bell jar and its emptiness is our hope that we do not lose despite everything.”
