Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts (GSF), Graphic Design Department Instructor Member Ahmet Özel's solo exhibition "Periods" is hosted by Prof. Dr. It was opened at Gelişim Art Gallery under the curatorship of İsmet Çavuşoğlu.
The opening speech of the exhibition, which includes the latest works of Özel, was made by Prof. Dr. İsmet Çavuşoğlu and Head of Graphic Design Department of Faculty of Fine Arts Assoc. Dr. Metin Bird made it. In his speech, Çavuşoğlu evaluated Özel's art practice spanning years and the reflection of the education he received at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University on his art. He ended his speech by mentioning the concept of Özel's artistic works and the endless doors he opened in the world of the receiver.
Ahmet Özel describes his paintings as witnesses of his journey to his inner world. He says that he has been traveling to his inner world for a long time through concepts such as "Inner Voices" and "Inner Landscapes". Using titles such as "Inner Landscapes", "Inner Sounds", "Inner Sun" in his paintings, the artist feeds off his journey into the dark but waiting to be discovered corridors of our own world.
While pushing the viewer to question nature and the universe, the “Periods” exhibition is in an important position in terms of activating the idea of traveling to the buyer's own world. Özel's color compositions and abstraction in form represent the inner journey and the experience of being on the road in the context of the concepts of "I" and "We". Ozel, who envisions his canvas as a playground, deals with the dynamism of nature and the universe in an organic way with his increasing figure and color variations, the textures he adds to the canvas surface and the layers he creates. In the exhibition, which presents a retrospective to the audience, it is possible to see the paintings of Özel, in which he conveys his impressions of his visit to Egypt, mainly his recent works. All art lovers are invited to the exhibition, which will continue until May 14 at J Blok Gelişim Art Gallery.
