The event, which started at 10:00 on Thursday, March 17, was held in J block. Muammer Songur, who is a representative of cruise companies in Turkey, started his speech by introducing himself, primarily, at the event where students from departments such as Tourism Guiding, International Relations, International Logistics, and Transportation were present, as well as students from the Gastronomy and Culinary Arts department. Talking about how old he was, how he started this job, and which countries he went to, Songur also talked about the difficulties he faced when he went abroad for the first time and how he adapted to different environments. Then, he gave detailed information about cruise ships and job opportunities, which are the new and highly demanded holiday concepts of recent years.
Songur made visual presentations and watched videos on the subject by giving information about his professional experiences, the success of the students he sent abroad to work on cruise ships, the situation in tourism, and the working conditions of international cruise ships.
In addition to the difficulties of working conditions, Songur also talked about the unlimited opportunities offered to passengers on the ships and explained with examples from job interviews that foreign language is one of the most important criteria to work in these opportunities.
After his presentation, Muammer Songur answered the questions of the students. After the question and answer session, the Head of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Department Our event came to an end with Prof. Dr. Aslı Albayrak presenting her plaque to our guest, Muammer Songur.
