The World Association of Chefs (WACS) is an association of 119 countries and has been operating for 17 years. The International Istanbul Gastronomy Festival, which is held every year, will be held on 22-25 December 2021 this year. The festival, which will be attended by 630 chefs from 53 different countries and 5,300 chefs from Turkey, will be held at the Eurasia Art and Performance Center and the chefs will compete with each other in 91 different categories. Not only professional chefs but also students who continue their education in the field of gastronomy can participate in the competition, where gold medals will be awarded for the first place, silver medals for the second, and bronze medals for the third place. In addition, all students participating in the competition will be awarded a certificate.
The World Cooks Association also formalizes different competitions in the field of gastronomy and has formalized the competition in only 23 countries out of 119 so far, but also these competitions are organized by the Turkish Cooks and Chefs Federation. Established in 2007, the Turkish Cooks and Chefs Federation is a federation that ensures the development of the prestige of the culinary profession in Turkey and tries to promote Turkish Cuisine more on all kinds of platforms. At the same time, thanks to our national team established by the Federation, Turkish Cuisine is represented on international platforms. The competition, which was organized by the Federation and received the title of 'intercontinental' in 2011, was formalized as a world competition in 2016.
Students who want to participate in the competition can get support from their department teachers. Participation of our department students in the competition will provide an important experience.
