Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts (FFA), Gastronomy, and Culinary Arts Department orientation meeting was held. The meeting was organized for first-year students who have newly joined the department.
The "2023-2024 Academic Year Orientation Meeting" organized by Istanbul Gelişim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts (FFA), Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Department was held on Tuesday, October 3, at 15:00, in classroom number 214, J Block. Res. Asst. Emel Çirişoğlu and Res. Asst. Ayşe Seray Çetin also attended the meeting chaired by Department Head Prof. Dr. Aslı Albayrak. At the orientation meeting, first-year students were primarily informed about the university, department, and profession. Additionally, various information about the functioning of the department was also included. At the meeting, where the academic staff was introduced, the rules that students must follow for four years were also reminded.
Points That First-Year Students Should Pay Attention to
Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Head of Department, Aslı Albayrak, introduced the faculty members and gave information about the general principles and functioning of the department. This information is as follows;

An advisor is assigned to each class. The advisors of the first graders are Prof. Dr. Aslı Albayrak, and the second and third graders are Res. Asst. Ayşe Seray Çetin and Res. Asst. Emel Çirişoğlu and the fourth graders are Murat Doğan. To receive any requests, complaints, and information, they must contact the advisor of their class by the student advisor list on the department website.

Requests and complaints about courses must first be forwarded to the faculty member teaching the course and then to the department chair.
Apart from all these, students were also included by asking questions. Detailed information was given to students about applied culinary training. Information such as how the uniforms and knife sets worn in the kitchen classes are obtained, and the purchasing of the materials used in the classes are carried out by our university, were also conveyed to the students. Students were also informed about Double Majors and Minors and Erasmus opportunities were explained. Students wanted to get information about the departments between UBF and GSF, and accordingly, the applied course hours in the department and the differences between the two departments were mentioned. Information was also shared on our department website, where they can access all information about the department and follow the announcements and news closely. In addition, a QR code was distributed to students to become members of the WhatsApp group, which includes all gastronomy department students and is managed by Res. Asst. Emel Çirişoğlu and Res. Asst. Ayşe Seray Çetin. The orientation meeting ended after reminders and information.
