Film Producer and Storyteller Elif Dağdeviren was hosted in the "Come Tell Me About My Job" event series organized by Istanbul Gelişim University (IGU) Faculty of Fine Arts (GSF) Communication and Design Department and moderated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nagihan Çakar Bikiç. Film Producer and Storyteller Elif Dağdeviren participated in the event with the participation of “What is a Good Festival?” An interview was held.
The eighth event of "Come and Tell About My Work", organized for our students to meet with the leading representatives of the sector and to follow the sector's works closely, was held on Wednesday, November 3, at 15.00 in the conference hall of the Faculty of Fine Arts (GSF) of Istanbul Gelişim University (IGU). Film Producer and Storyteller Elif Dağdeviren, who participated in the eighth "Come Tell About My Job" event series, is the founder of Netbul, one of Turkey's first internet portals, EDGE All-In-One Production and Consultancy company, Cinema of Turkey, and the International Antalya Film Festival. He is the director.
Film Producer and Storyteller Elif Dağdeviren was the guest of the "Come Tell Me" event, "What is a Good Festival?" The interview was held. Elif Dağdeviren first told the participants about her life story that intersects with cinema. Elif Dağdeviren has been a columnist, acting, manager and producer since her childhood. Talking about cinema as "my biggest passion", Elif Dağdeviren stated that she tried again and again without giving up despite the difficulties in her life. Dağdeviren stated that what she wanted to do was related to the internet and that she even rejected the editorial offers of famous newspapers and magazines at that time. She expressed this in her own words:
“What I wanted to do was about the internet at that time. Everyone was looking at me like I was crazy. Because the internet was very, very new to the society at that time and it was something unknown. It was Hakan Uzan who understood me at that time. His vision was extremely broad and he listened to what I wanted to do. This is my story of the establishment and development of Netbul.”
Film Producer and Storyteller Elif Dağdeviren talked about filmmaking and industry experiences in the interview and talked about the key points of organizing a film festival. First of all, starting with the name of the film festival, he stated that "a good festival film does not mention the award" with examples from around the world such as the Cannes Film Festival and the Berlin Film Festival. She also said that the festival film has a very long-term program in which every step of the film has to be planned in advance.
Filmmaker and Storyteller Elif Dağdeviren gave various advice to young people who want to become directors and producers. She talked about the importance of networking besides university education and even the necessity of it today. She also underlined that the cultural infrastructure is very important especially for cinema and that the person dealing with cinema should definitely be fed from other branches.
The interview was followed by a question and answer session, which was attended by a large number of participants. After the pleasant conversation, Film Producer and Storyteller Elif Dağdeviren was presented with a plaque and flowers.
