The study co-invented by Lecturer İrem Özpınar received patent registration!

Developed within the scope of a TÜBİTAK 1001 project, the "Web-Based Evaluation, Solution Presentation, and Archiving Method and System," co-invented by Lecturer İrem Özpınar from Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts (FFA), Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design (IAED), was entitled to receive a patent.

The TÜBİTAK 1001 project, in which Lecturer İrem Özpınar, an academic from Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts (FFA), Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design (IAED), took part as a researcher, resulted in patent registration. The patent application numbered 2025/009923, filed on behalf of the Akdeniz University Rectorate, was officially registered on August 21, 2026. The inventors of the developed system include Prof. Dr. Şebnem Ertaş Beşir, Prof. Dr. Ümit Turgay Arpacıoğlu, Lecturer İrem Özpınar, Mücahit Gül, Ayşan Ilgın Polat, and Melis Seyfettinoğlu Yeşilkent.

Evaluation System for Risks of Non-Structural Elements

The registered invention encompasses a web-based evaluation, solution presentation, and archiving system aimed at analyzing the hazards and risks that non-structural elements may cause during an earthquake. The system can respond instantaneously to problems identified during the risk score calculation process and algorithmically generate solution proposals for these issues.

Automated Reporting and Archiving Infrastructure

Built on scientific calculation algorithms, the method is capable of conducting evaluations against risks and threats that may be encountered in interior architecture projects. Designed in this manner, the system allows for the creation of solution proposals for identified risks, the archiving of evaluation results, and the automatic presentation of comprehensive, customizable project reports to the user.

We congratulate our department's academic Lecturer İrem Özpınar, who transformed her academic knowledge into a concrete invention within an interdisciplinary scientific project, as well as all the co-inventors who contributed to the project, and wish them continued success in their scientific studies.
