To touch on the CV of Architect Mehmet Hacıosmanoğlu; Born in Istanbul, he graduated from Fatih Sultan Mehmet Foundation University, Faculty of Architecture in 2018. After many attempts to start a business, he founded Kalif Architecture with two of his friends in 2018. The company, which carries out design, renovation and restoration projects, entered the production sector with a radical decision in 2019. The adventures that started with four people in a 50 m2 workshop are now continuing with a staff of fifty people in a 2500 m2 factory. Kalif Architecture combines lightweight concrete with natural stone and exports design products such as flower pots, coffee tables, tables, fire-pits for indoor and outdoor use in Turkey, as well as exporting to more than ten countries.

Mehmet Hacıosmanoğlu started his presentation by mentioning that concrete is remembered as a heavy and bulky material, but new types of concrete can emerge with the developing technology. Stating that we are actually witnessing a history while describing the furniture adventure of concrete, Hacıosmanoğlu said that although concrete is a very old structure, there have been very important developments regarding concrete in the recent past. After explaining how the products that we can evaluate both indoors and in landscape areas can be designed and produced in a durable, long-lasting way without being bulky, Kalif Architecture explained how they did this. Emphasizing that concrete is a natural material obtained by mixing a combination of cement and aggregate with water, Hacıosmanoğlu said that they started production with concrete pots, aiming to use the full potential of this material, and they turned to different product areas as much as they could produce. These areas include sinks, garden products, and indoor and outdoor furniture. Among the main features of the terrazzo textured material developed by Kalif Architecture are; It has high fading resistance in sunlight, insulation components that prevent fungus formation, high breaking strength, lightness. The mixture is created on 100% natural stone dust so that the use of chemicals is kept to a minimum (2%). Talking about the production process and usage areas of the products produced after the material details, Hacıosmanoğlu's interview ended after the questions from the students were answered.

We would like to thank Mr. Mehmet Hacıosmanoğlu for his valuable contributions.
