Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts (FFA), Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design (ICM) Research Assistant Merve Karadaban Özen has qualified to take part in two working groups as a result of her application within the scope of the COST Action CA22156 – TransformERS (Transformations International Experience and Research Network for Sustainable Futures) research network. Karadaban Özen will contribute to the international studies to be carried out within Working Group 1 (Integration) and Working Group 3 (Current Transformations).
Significant Success in the International Research Network
COST Action CA22156 – TransformERS stands out as an international research network aiming to bring together research, policy, and practice areas related to justice-oriented social transformations in a changing global context. The network aims to connect fragmented knowledge areas regarding transformation research, enhance collaboration among different disciplines and research communities, and support the production of new knowledge.
Will Take Part in Two Different Working Groups
Working Group 1, to which Research Assistant Merve Karadaban Özen was accepted, aims to develop a holistic understanding of transformations by bringing together the perspectives of all working groups within the network. Working Group 3, on the other hand, focuses on evaluating which approaches are effective in creating transformation in different contexts and research communities and identifying existing knowledge gaps. It is considered that Karadaban Özen's research, which focuses on areas such as urban transformation, post-industrial cities, urban shrinkage, and socio-spatial change, has a strong alignment specifically with the thematic framework of these two working groups.
Contribution to IGU's International Research Visibility
This acceptance draws attention as an important development that strengthens Istanbul Gelisim University's visibility in international research networks. The studies that Research Assistant Merve Karadaban Özen will carry out within the TransformERS network are expected to contribute to the university's scientific production capacity, international academic collaborations, and interdisciplinary research environment. The official participation structure of COST also indicates that researchers can be included in Action activities through Working Group membership and participate in meetings, joint studies, and network events.
We congratulate Research Assistant Merve Karadaban Özen on this important academic success and wish her success in her studies within the scope of COST Action CA22156 – TransformERS.
