Res. Asst. Hatice Çoban Successfully Defended Her Master's Thesis

Research Assistant Hatice Çoban from Istanbul Gelişim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts (FFA), Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design (ICM), completed her master's education by successfully defending her thesis conducted within the Department of Architecture at Gazi University, Faculty of Architecture.

Prepared under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Asena Soyluk and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zerrin Funda Ürük, the thesis titled “Investigation of Post-Earthquake Field Hospital Plan Proposals with Different Structural Characteristics within the Scope of Accessibility via Space Syntax Method” addressed the spatial organization and accessibility performances of field hospitals, which are of critical importance for the sustainability of emergency healthcare services after earthquakes. Within the scope of the study, field hospital plan proposals with different structural characteristics were analyzed using the space syntax method and evaluated in terms of accessibility.

In addition to the thesis advisors, the defense was held before a jury consisting of Prof. Dr. Semra Arslan Selçuk, Prof. Dr. Ali İhsan Ünay, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Güneş Mutlu Avinç. The thesis work was deemed successful and accepted by the jury members.

Contributing to the evaluation of post-disaster healthcare buildings in terms of accessibility and spatial performance, this study reveals significant findings for the design of disaster-resilient healthcare spaces.
