Asst. Prof. Gökçe Uzgören, a faculty member of the Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design at Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts (FFA), has contributed to the field with her latest academic work featured in the book titled "Spatial Studies in the Age of Crises and Transformations."

The study, titled "Tracing Social (Re)production through City Squares: The Transformation of San Marco Square in the Context of Lefebvre's Spatial Triad Conceptualization," explores the role of space in the process of social production with theoretical depth. Based on Henri Lefebvre’s "Spatial Triad" theory, Uzgören analyzes the historical evolution of San Marco Square, one of Venice's most iconic landmarks.

The research emphasizes that city squares are not merely physical voids but dynamic arenas where social practices, representations, and lived experiences are shaped, shedding light on the transformative effects of globalization and crises on spatial identity. Tracing the imprints of daily life and historical changes, this research serves as a vital resource for professionals and students in the fields of interior architecture and urban studies.

We congratulate our esteemed faculty member for this valuable contribution to the urban-space literature and the academic production vision of the IGU Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design, and we wish her continued success in her future endeavors.
