From Theory to Practice: Technical Examination on the 27th Floor
During the trip organized within the scope of the Building Construction Knowledge II and Yapı ve Konstrüksiyon Bilgisi II courses, students were guests at the active construction site ongoing on the 27th floor of the IGU Tower. During the visit, which took place under the guidance of academicians, the basic application stages that make up the interior texture of a building were examined in detail.
Manufacturing Processes Observed On-Site
The interior architects of the future personally witnessed the adventure of a space transforming from a raw shell into a livable living space, experiencing critical technical processes on-site. In this context, students made observations on a wide range of topics, from wall-building techniques shaped by different materials and methods to the installation details of drywall partition systems, which are indispensable for modern interiors. The candidates, who also observed plaster and surface treatments—the concrete equivalents of theoretical material knowledge in the field—gained application discipline by learning the technical criteria to be considered in finishing operations from professionals.
"We Aim for Industry-Ready Graduates"
The instructors of the courses, Asst. Prof. Dr. İbrahim Erol and Lect. Selin Rüya Çakır, stated that such technical trips expand the students' vision. They emphasized that the interior architecture discipline is not a process designed solely at a desk, and that knowing the construction site dynamics directly increases design quality. With the information they received from site chiefs and foremen, the students seized the opportunity to question the material-detail relationship and grasp the functioning of professional life.
