 From the Dean of Faculty of Fine Arts Congratulatory Visit to Res. Asst. Gökçe Uzgören


Dean and Deputy Deans of Faculty of Fine Arts visited Res. Asst. Gökçe Uzgören and conveyed their congratulations for her TÜBİTAK 2214/a Overseas Doctorate Research Scholarship, who will carry out a scientific research project under the consultancy of Valesca Lima in Dublin City University (DCU), School of Law and Government.


Gökçe Uzgören, Research Assistant at Istanbul Gelişim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design, and she was awarded the 2214/a Overseas Doctorate Research Scholarship given by TÜBİTAK for his research project titled "Regulating Short-Term Rentals: A Comparative Study on the Effect of Airbnb on the Housing Sector in Istanbul and Dublin", which she planned to carry out under the consultancy of Valesca Lima. After the announcement of her success, a visit was made by Faculty of Fine Arts Dean Prof. Dr. Şükran Güzin Ilıcak Aydınalp, Deputy Dean Asst. Prof. Murat Doğan and Deputy Dean Asst. Prof. Sezgin Savaş. At the end of the visit the application process, the details of the research project and future scientific research were discussed, Uzgören was interviewed by Research Assistant Okan Kırbacı.

“It Will Make a Great Contribution to My Career Development”

Emphasizing the importance of conducting research on the effects of Airbnb, a short-term accommodation platform, on the housing market in different countries and cities, Uzgören said, "I think this research will contribute to my career development in terms of adding the dynamics of the digital age to space analysis and drawing attention to the multi-layered structure.". Uzgören stated that it would be a very stimulating experience for her to conduct such a research in Dublin City University in a comparative manner by considering Istanbul and Dublin for six months, and once again thanked all her professors who contributed to it.

Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts Prof. Dr. Şükran Güzin Ilıcak Aydınalp and the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Asst. Prof. Murat Doğan and Asst. Prof. Sezgin Savaş, congratulated Res. Asst. Gökçe Uzgören during the visit. Stating that doing research abroad for a period of six months by receiving a TÜBİTAK scholarship is a great success and that she is proud of this success, Dean of Faculty of Fine Arts Prof. Dr. Güzin Ilıcak Aydınalp emphasized the importance of conducting such scientific research within the faculty.
