The exhibition opening, which is the last stage of the process within the scope of the
“Design of Living Spaces in Containers” project, organized with the aim of bringing a design proposal to the container cities to be established for the earthquake victims whose houses were damaged in the 6 February Kahramanmaraş earthquakes, opening at IGU Kule Art Gallery on 07.06.2023 at 13.00. It started with the speeches. Within the scope of the opening speeches, conveying the ideas about the concept and products, and also drawing attention to the sensitivity of the subject, Istanbul Gelişim University, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Mr. Abdülkadir Gayretli stated that very valuable works in the exhibition area should especially apply for patents and that our university gives full support in this regard. At the same time, he stated that they fully support the students of Interior Architecture Departments in terms of getting into the sector, and they support students who want to open their own offices. In the continuation of his speech, he talked about the opportunities abroad and directed the students to this field.
Afterwards, Istanbul Gelisim University Rector took the stage. Prof. Dr. Bahri Şahin was invited and congratulated the academicians and students who prepared the exhibition for their work. Then, he talked about İGUTEKMER and conveyed how students and academicians can develop their ideas about "robotic solutions" within the roof of Istanbul Gelişim University. In addition, he stated that projects can be developed with Angel Investors (Individual Participation Investors) and R&D studies and projects can be carried out with successful students in such organizations, and Istanbul Gelişim University is always open to support in this regard.
After the opening speeches, the stage was left to Asst. Prof. Dr. Parvin Heidari, Deputy Head of the Turkish and English Departments of Interior Architecture, Interior Architecture and Environmental Design, to convey the main idea and process behind the "Container Living Space Design Exhibition". Heidari talked about the parts of the exhibition work that started with the workshop held between March 17 and April 3, 2023 and then evolved into the jury process held on March 31, 2023.
At the end of the exhibition, the Rector of Istanbul Gelişim University Prof. Dr. Bahri Şahin and the Chairman of the Board of Trustees Abdülkadir Gayretli presented their certificates to the academicians who contributed to the project and to the students who contributed to the formation of the exhibition with their products. The opening of the exhibition was visited by more than 70 students and department academics, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Mr. Abdülkadir Gayretli, Rector of Istanbul Gelişim University Prof. Dr. Bahri Şahin examined and interpreted the projects and ended with ribbon cutting.
