Asst. Prof. Gizem Karacan Tekin appointed to the Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design!
Asst. Prof. Gizem Karacan Tekin, who joined the academic staff of Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts (FFA), Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design, will continue her academic and professional studies within our department.
Asst. Prof. Gizem Karacan Tekin has been appointed as an Assistant Professor to the Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU) Faculty of Fine Arts (FFA) Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design.
Undergraduate and Graduate Education
Completing her undergraduate education as the highest-ranking student of the department in the Department of City and Regional Planning, Faculty of Architecture at Süleyman Demirel University in 2016, Gizem Karacan Tekin completed her master's degree in the same field in 2019. She completed her doctoral education in the Department of Architecture, Planning, and Design in 2024 within the scope of the YÖK 100/2000 Doctoral Scholarship Program and was entitled to receive her Ph.D. degree.
Fields of Study and Academic Production
Her academic studies mainly focus on climate change, climate resilience, sustainable urbanization, disaster risk management, green and blue infrastructure systems, and sustainable design. Being a YeS-TR Green Certificate Expert, Tekin continues her studies on sustainable construction, environmental performance evaluation, and climate-oriented planning.
Taking part in national and international scientific publications, congress papers, and research projects, Tekin continues her academic studies aimed at developing sustainable, resilient, and livable living environments with an interdisciplinary approach.
