Asst. Prof. Ece Cantemir’s Patent Achievement: "Hidden Diffusion Scent-Emitting Ceramic Tile’’

The invention titled 'Hidden Diffusion Scent-Emitting Ceramic Tile,' developed by Asst. Prof. Ece Cantemir from the Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design at İstanbul Gelisim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts (FFA), has been registered by the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office. This work, with İstanbul Gelişim University as the patent holder, offers an innovative solution combining aesthetics and functionality in wet areas.

A new achievement has been added to the academic endeavors conducted within the Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design at İstanbul Gelisim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts (GSF). The invention titled 'Hidden Diffusion Scent-Emitting Ceramic Tile', developed by faculty member Asst. Prof. Ece Cantemir and registered under our university's name, has been approved by the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office and awarded a patent certificate. This invention offers a modern solution to the odor management problem frequently encountered in restrooms within shopping malls, hotels, and public spaces. Unlike existing scent machines or sprays, this system is applied directly to the wall surface as a ceramic tile, thereby maintaining the design integrity of the space. Indistinguishable from a standard ceramic tile from the outside, the design ensures a hidden and continuous diffusion of a pleasant scent into the environment. Asst. Prof. Ece Cantemir’s invention aims to eliminate the visual clutter caused by conventional odor-control devices. Thanks to its special internal structure, the tile safely stores the scent liquid and diffuses it without leakage, while also offering practical usability with its easy-refill feature. The design simultaneously meets both hygiene and aesthetic expectations in architectural projects.

As İstanbul Gelisim University, we congratulate our esteemed faculty member, Asst. Prof. Ece Cantemir, for contributing to our university’s scientific achievements with this innovative work and wish her continued success.
