Interview with Prof. Dr. Ayşe Yüksel and Dr. Instructor It started with the introduction of its member Esra Tunçay. Tuncay, Prof. Dr. She talked about Ayşe Yüksel's education life, academic career, and journey to join the Contemporary Life Support Association.
Who is Ayşe Yuksel?
In 1995, he became a member of the Contemporary Life Support Association Bakırköy Branch. Dr. Ayşe Yüksel took part in the establishment of the Health Commission and the health screenings in schools. After assuming the founding member of the Contemporary Life Support Association Küçükçekmece Branch in 1998, she presided over the Küçükçekmece Branch between 1999-2001. In addition, Yüksel established the Contemporary Life Support Association Headquarters Rural Area Unit in 1996 and worked in this unit until 2001. Throughout her working life, she has been the coordinator of important projects that concern the whole society, such as "Our İdil Project", "Contemporary Girls of Contemporary Turkey", and "Symposium on Cooperation of Civil Administrative Officers and Non-Governmental Organizations".
In the interview hosted by Istanbul Gelişim University (IGU), Prof. Dr. Ayşe Yüksel started her speech with the wish for “a more equal life for all women who have been exposed to inequality” and emphasized International Women's Day on March 8th. Yüksel, who shared his story of meeting with the Association for Supporting Contemporary Life with our university faculty members and students, talked about his meeting with Türkan Saylan at the Fight Against Leprosy Association and the process of coming together with associations and non-governmental organizations.

“What are the activities you carry out for girls to lead a healthy life in the context of 'well-being' defined by the World Health Organization in 1947?” to the question of Prof. Dr. Ayşe Yüksel responded by pointing out that everyone should be supported within the scope of the social state, from pregnancy to birth and then death, based on the World Health Organization's definition of feeling good physically and mentally. She talked about the work they carry out as the Contemporary Life Support Association to ensure equality in health, education, and business life. The project of giving scholarships to girls is one of the most important of these efforts. With the project that started in 1997, 17 female students were given scholarships in the same year, enabling them to continue their secondary education and education. In the following year, 20 girls from 10 districts, and in the third year more than 400 girls were given scholarships in this context. Within the scope of the project, which reaches more girls with different supporters and sponsors every year, a total of 91,183 female students have been given education scholarships since 1997.
Another topic of the conversation is the rate of illiterate women in Turkey. Stating that 25% of women in Turkey are illiterate, Yüksel mentioned that they regularly hold online meetings with many women from Anatolia within the scope of the "Hand in Hand with Women" project carried out by the Contemporary Life Support Association to overcome this situation. With these interviews, with a 6-week training to the women living in Anatolia; She stated that they engage in activities that will support their personal development, such as getting to know, expressing themselves, and acquiring hobbies.
Pointing out that students' need for electronic devices such as computers and tablets has increased during the pandemic process, Ayşe Yüksel also mentioned that the Association for Supporting Contemporary Life provided computer support to 55 students as the first step, and that they aim to purchase computers and tablets for 6000 students for the future. He stated that for this purpose, permission was obtained from the relevant ministries to collect donations, and with the contribution of these donations, computers, and tablets were provided to approximately 3000 students.
